How to open modules in a faster way via Remote Desktop

Anyone have any ideas on how to increase the performance in DOORS for remote desktop connections? I am currrently struggling with offsite users who take more than 23 times more to open a module in DOORS.

Is not actually using a remote connection, is because they are working from home or offsite and they try to open DOORS remotely using a VPN or a replication server.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

This question should probably be posted under the Administration forum.

The speed issue seems to be related more to your in-house network and/or at-home network performance.
1. What are the upload/download speeds of your VPN-to-in-house network?
2. What are the upload/download speeds of the off-site network? (dial-up modem, DSL, CableTV, Satellite)
3. How good is the performance of the off-site computer?

Your internet service provider(s) may need to be involved to increase the performance.

23 times slower is horrible! I would hope that the off-site computer is not using a dial-up modem.

DOORS has always been particularly sensitive to slow connection speeds between the client and the database server. VPN connections are at the mercy of the public internet where performance\quality of service can be very erratic.

The only way around this when using VPN is to access DOORS via a thin client service where you remotely login to a server that resides within your company and has a DOORS client installed on it. Popular thin client services are Microsoft's Terminal Services and CITRIX Metaframe. Microsoft's Terminal Services is inherently cheaper as each Windows server comes with this service already built into it plus I think about 5 licenses which can be increased at a cost. CITRIX Metaframe is really only cost viable if you have 50 plus active users who need this type of service - CITRIX is basically a very enhanced version of Windows Terminal Services, it offers many more features which may not be useful to you.
